KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.43 g, 11 h), Amphipolis, circa 289-288. Diademed and horned head of Demetrios I to right. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY Poseidon, nude, standing left, his right foot set on a rock, holding a trident in his left hand and resting his right on his right thigh; in field to inner left and outer right, monograms. HGC 3.1, 1014b. Newell 123 (dies CXXV/244) and pl. XII, 13. Pozzi 959. SNG Berry 340. Attractively toned and with a portrait of particularly fine style. Minor marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
